Alexander Bernstein recently completed his Doctorate at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin, Ireland under the tutelage of John O’Conor in June 2020. Alexander received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Harvard University in May 2010 where he studied privately with Stephen Drury of the New England Conservatory. He also completed a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in 2012 and an Artist Diploma at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia in 2016.
After making his symphonic debut in 1999, Alexander has performed solo recitals and concerti with several orchestras in the US and Europe, and recorded a CD of solo piano works by the Irish composer, Ryan Molloy, in 2015.
Alexander has had much success in competitions, including 2nd Prize in the 2018 Clavicologne International Piano Competition, 2nd Prize in the 2016 Euregio Piano Award, 3rd Prize in the 2015 Gian Battista Viotti International Piano Competition, 3rd Prize in the 2015 Verona International Piano Competition, and 2nd Prize and the RTE Lyric Fm Special Prize in the 2015 Dublin International Piano Competition.
Alexander is currently a visiting professor of piano at Shenandoah Conservatory.
