Fuko Ishii was born in Tokyo in 1991. In 2019 she won 1st prize at the 2nd Brahms Competition in Detmold and 3rd prize at the 26th International Brahms Competition in Pörtschach. She is a prizewinner of the Jmanuel and Evamaria Schenk Foundation (2019). She also won 1st prize at the 3rd International Chopin Competition and the Japan Music Competition as well as 3rd prize at the Seiler Piano Competition and the 9th Ettlingen International Piano Competition. International concert appearances have taken her to Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland and Romania. In 2019 she performed as a soloist with Euro Symphony SFK, Argovia Philharmonic Orchestra and the Symphonic Orchestra of the Landestheater Detmold. In 2020 she will perform with the Basel Symphony Orchestra and the Japan Century Orchestra. She also has a great passion for chamber music. Fuko Ishii completed her bachelor’s degree at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo and continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Cologne and the Musik Akademie Basel. In 2018 she completed her master’s degree at the Music Academy Basel in the class of Prof. Martinez- Mehner with distinction.
