Tomoya Umeda graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts(Geidai) with a master degree course studying under professor Seizo Azuma. He continues his study at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien under professor Martin Hughes, with Rotary Scholarship 2015-2016.
Tomoya won 1st Prize and Audience Prize at Tokyo Music Competition 2014. 1st Prize of International Piano Competition“Citta di Treviso” 2017. Best Performer of the Japanese Work of The 10th HAMAMATSU International Piano Competition 2018.
Tomoya has performed with Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra and The Japan Philharmonic Orchestra.
