The Austrian pianist Martin Nöbauer performs on both modern and historical instruments. His success as a finalist at the 2nd International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments in Warsaw led to the recent release of a CD by the Chopin Institute featuring his recordings from the competition. He has won first prizes at the International Piano Competition “Classic on Danube” in Vienna and at the Hildegard Maschmann Foundation Piano Competition, held at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and open to European concert pianists from Austria’s music universities. He has also received further awards and prizes at the International Hammerklavier Competition Musica Antiqua in Bruges, the Piano Academy Eppan, the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum University Salzburg (including a performance at the Salzburg Festival), Musica Juventutis, and the International Chamber Music Competition Fortepiano Plus Schloss Kremsegg (first prize).
He has performed at festivals such as Kulturkreis Deutschlandsberg (concert broadcast on Radio Ö1), the St. Florian Bruckner Days, the Musiktage Mondsee, and as part of the VIP Classical concert series at the Dubai Opera. He performed alongside Elisabeth Leonskaja at the Festival Stars and Rising Stars in Munich and recently in the Great Hall of the Brucknerhaus Linz.
Martin Nöbauer began his studies at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz and is currently studying piano with Pavel Gililov at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. He has received further artistic inspiration from fortepiano lessons with Wolfgang Brunner, with Boris Petrushansky in Imola, as well as through scholarships from the Aspen Music Festival and School, the Music Academy in Liechtenstein, and the Theo and Petra Lieven Piano Foundation.
